“God Save the King” • Psalm 20 – Elder Bryce Lowrance. Historically, this Psalm was a prayer of the nation of Israel for King David to be delivered through a great battle. The people prayed the God would help him. God blessed David with deliverance, and in turn, the entire nation as well. This Psalm is also a Messianic Psalm which means that it points toward the person and work of the Lord Jesus Christ. When His work on the cross was blessed, the entire elect family of God was blessed. We no longer need to pray for a battle that is coming, but we do need to pray for clear understanding that the battle is already won, and we are more than conquerors.
