We have been given eternal life and called to use that life in God’s service. When we walk by faith and live in charity toward one another then we are more assured of our part in the covenant of grace. And not only this, we find ourselves walking actively in the kingdom of Jesus Christ/

4. “Peter’s Retirement Plan” • 2nd Peter 2:12-15
The preaching of the gospel is not like a regular job and should not be viewed as such. Part of the calling to preach is an understanding that it is a life-long pursuit and servitude. Peter understood this and not only never stopped preaching, he wrote two epistles so that the gospel he loved and taught would continue long after his martyrdom.

5. “A More Sure Word of Prophecy” • 2nd Peter 2:16-21
The Bible is not a bunch of man-made stories and myths. It is a collection of writings by men who were spoken to by God. God told them what to write and they faithfully carried out that duty. Peter argues that what he and the other Apostles teach is true because God spoke to them on the Mount of Transfiguration. Peter uses this as proof of his authority to speak but also argues that he, and we, have a more sure word to guide us. That is because everything in the Old Testament points toward Christ, and everything in the New Testament shows that Jesus is God’s Son and our victorious Savior.
