“The Psalm of the Ascension(s)” • Psalm 24 – Elder Bryce Lowrance. This Psalm was written for the occasion of bringing the Ark of the Covenant back to the city of David from the house of Obededom. The Jews sang this Psalm weekly on Sunday to commemorate the ascension of the Ark back to Judea. Jesus claims this Psalm for Himself with His resurrection on the first day of the week. Prophetically David teaches that Jesus Christ is the only One worthy to ascend to heaven and be with the Father. By His death, Jesus purchased that right for God’s elect as well. Christ ascended first as the mighty Man of battle having conquered death. At His second coming, those who have the righteousness of Christ counted to them will meet Him in the air and then ascend to be with God for all eternity.
