Daniel, Chapter 1 • Brother Jonah Lowrance Brother Jonah begins in Proverbs, Chapter 3 with a text that Daniel and King Hezekiah would have both known. There, Solomon teaches that we are to acknowledge God in everything we do. Jonah then shows how Hezekiah was blessed throughout his life but eventually forsook this counsel and Judah was taken into captivity because of his sin. In contrast, Daniel continues to follow the Lord and seek His ways throughout his entire captivity in Babylon.
Elder Bryce Lowrance goes back to 1st Kings, Chapter 20 showing that King Hezekiah was very selfish when he responded to Isaiah. He was glad that Israel would not suffer while he was alive. We are to take care that we are not selfish in our discipleship. We need to continue like Daniel and live for God by living for others.
